Weaving Reality

A ball of yarn, an empty garden bed, a blank word document – raw materials to weave my reality.

About Kitty February 6, 2010

Hi!

I am Kitty Sarkozy.  I live in Stone Mountain, Georgia, right outside of Atlanta.  I live with my husband Puck and several cats and chickens.

I am a writer, urbanish homesteader, makeup designer, and crafter.    I have more stuff than I can possibly do at home, so I leave the house as little as possible.  Just like Ms. Dickinson,  when Death is ready for our appointment, he is going to have to bring the car around.   I write sci-fi, fantasy, new folk tales, and horror.

I am very liberal, caring deeply for issues of social justice.  Everyone should start out with all the essentials, and have equal access to the tools they need to weave their future.  And everyone should be treated as an individual.   But so far I have decided to keep my more aggressive political ideas off this blog.

What you can expect to see here are stories I write, some poetry, adventures in gardening and homesteading, pictures of things I make, and reviews of book/stories I am reading.  With any luck, there will also be lots of links to where you can buy magazines and books that I write pieces in.

Aside from gardening and writing, my interests/activities are knitting, sewing, cooking, canning, fashion, hooping, dancing, woodworking, home repair, singing, herding cats, chasing chickens, painting, and regional burns.  I love Shakespearean plays, and I am currently chasing the canon (more than halfway there!).  I am also a big geek.  I try to find time to play Magic, D&D, WoW, and more card/board games than I can mention.

I love Star Trek, Doctor Who, Buffy, Star Wars, the Big Bang Theory, Lord of the Rings,
The IT Crowd, The Guild, Torchwood, Red Dwarf, Fry and Laurie, Hello Kitty, Fruits Basket, Dr. Horrible, and The Legend of Neil.

I read everyday (can’t be a writer, without being a reader).  My favorites are Jim Butcher, Terry Pratchett, Robert Heinlein, Carl Hiassen, Jane Austen, Neil Gaiman, William H. Hodgson, and Christopher Moore.  I can’t help but read D&D based novels (Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms). I read fantasy from the great to the super cheesy. I like sci-fi, dark utopia, urban fantasy, and new mythology.

  1. Hi Kitty – thanks for liking my post on a moment of quiet. As a writer, you might also enjoy this quote from David Adams Richards that whatever we write “may not be the greatest thing in the world, but then again it might be, and you never know it might spark someone or something else.” For the whole post on this, see http://aprilyamasaki.com/2012/09/10/writing-deadline-t-minus-5-with-some-advice-from-david-adams-richards/ All the best to you!
